A lab worker in Irkutsk, Russia, died from pneumonic plague after reportedly breaking a test tube containing live bacteria. Nearly 200 people have been placed under quarantine as a precaution. Medical experts emphasize that while the disease is serious and spreads via respiratory droplets, it remains treatable with standard antibiotics, unlike viral pandemics.
